God In the Return

God sovereignly prepares the way for redemption by raising a messenger who will point people to the coming Savior.

  • God prepares the messenger before He reveals the Messiah — John’s formation shows that preparation precedes revelation in God’s redemptive plan.
  • Preparation involves promise, prophecy, and divine purpose — John is shaped by God’s will, empowered by the Spirit, and assigned a Christ-centered mission.
  • Formation happens in hiddenness before public ministry — wilderness, silence, and spiritual growth shape the servant before the platform.
  • The messenger exists to prepare people, not promote himself — John’s life points to repentance, mercy, salvation, and Christ alone.
  • All preparation is ultimately for Christ’s glory — the goal is not the servant’s visibility, but the Savior’s revelation.

  • P — Presence before Platform. Luke 1:8–12, 39–45. John is formed in God’s presence before public ministry begins. Cultivate private devotion before public service. God values intimacy before influence.
  • R — Repentance before Reputation. Luke 1:15–17. John’s mission is heart transformation, not image management. Seek inner holiness over outward appearance. Let God shape your heart, not your brand.
  • E — Election before Expression. Luke 1:13–17. Calling precedes ministry. Don’t rush to speak before God finishes shaping. Let your life authenticate your voice.
  • P — Process before Power. Luke 1:18–20, 80. Silence and wilderness come before influence. Trust God’s timing. Formation seasons are not wasted seasons.
  • A — Alignment before Assignment. Luke 1:76–79. John’s purpose aligns with Christ’s mission. Make sure your service advances Christ’s kingdom, not personal agendas.
  • R — Revelation before Recognition. Luke 1:67–75. Divine truth precedes public affirmation. Value God’s approval over human applause.
  • E — Exaltation of Christ above Everything. Entire chapter focus. John’s life exists to reveal Jesus. Live in a way that makes Jesus visible, not yourself famous.
