God In the Return
God promises a coming day of judgment and restoration, calling His people to faithful obedience as they await the Lord.
- The Day of the LORD is certain and divinely appointed, marked by the coming of the covenant Lord who purifies His people and judges unrepentant sin.
- God’s unchanging character guarantees both judgment and mercy, ensuring that His people are refined, not consumed, despite their unfaithfulness.
- The Day will reveal a true distinction between the righteous and the wicked, as God remembers, treasures, and vindicates those who fear His name.
- For the proud and persistently wicked, the Day brings complete judgment, but for those who fear the LORD, it brings healing, joy, and restoration.
- God graciously sends a forerunner before the Day arrives, calling for repentance and heart transformation so that judgment may be averted and covenant relationship restored.
D.A.Y.
- D — Discern God’s Purifying Purpose. “But who can endure the day of His coming?” (Malachi 3:2) Do not view God’s discipline as rejection but as refinement. The coming Day reminds believers that God is more concerned with holy worship than comfortable religion. What is God refining in my life right now? Evaluate worship, service, and giving in light of purity, not appearance. Embrace correction as preparation, not condemnation. Judgment begins with God’s people so that worship may be restored.
- A — Align Life with Eternal Values. “Return to Me, and I will return to you.” (Malachi 3:7). Live today as those who know a Day of reckoning is coming. Faithful obedience matters even when righteousness seems unrewarded. Generosity, integrity, and reverence are not wasted investments. Resist the temptation to measure faithfulness by immediate results. Delayed justice does not mean absent justice.
- Y — Yield to Hope, Not Fear. “The Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings.” (Malachi 4:2) For those who fear the LORD, the Day is not terror—it is healing. Let future hope produce present endurance. Encourage one another, as those who are written in God’s book. Speak faith, not cynicism, in times of waiting. The same Day that burns the wicked heals the faithful.
