Biblical Doing
Christians must live with spiritual alertness, resisting evil, doing good even in suffering, and serving faithfully as we await Christ’s return.
- Live as Pilgrims with Pure Conduct: We are strangers in this world; therefore, we must abstain from sinful desires and live honorably so that even unbelievers may see our good works and glorify God. (vv. 2:11–12)
- Suffer for Righteousness with Hope: When facing hostility for doing good, we are called to stand firm, not fear, and be ready to gently and respectfully give a reason for our hope in Christ. (vv. 3:13–17)
- Pray, Love, and Serve with Eternal Urgency: Since the end of all things is near, believers must stay watchful in prayer, show fervent love, and use their gifts to serve others so that God is glorified. (vv. 4:7–11)
- Stand Alert Against the Enemy: The devil actively seeks to destroy, so Christians must stay sober-minded, watchful, and resist him with steadfast faith, knowing we are not alone in our struggles. (vv. 5:8–9)
- Trust God’s Restoring Grace: Suffering is temporary, but the God of all grace will strengthen, establish, and secure His people, bringing them to eternal glory in Christ. (v. 5:10)
